UK Envoy to Uganda Hails Strong Bilateral Relations In Meeting With CDF

The UK High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Lisa Chesney, has commended the longstanding ties between the United Kingdom and Uganda, expressing her pride in serving as custodian of this enduring relationship.

Marking the completion of her first month in Uganda, H.E. Chesney described the warm reception she received as the most welcoming of her diplomatic career.

She highlighted the training of Ugandan officers at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as a cornerstone of the bilateral partnership. She extended special gratitude to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a Sandhurst alumnus, for gracing the King Charles III birthday celebrations.

The ceremony, hosted on Thursday evening at the High Commissioner’s residence in Nakasero, attracted a diverse audience, including government ministers, senior military officials, diplomats from various missions, and representatives of civil society.

H.E. Chesney emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation underpinning the UK-Uganda relationship. She reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s development priorities, showcasing a partnership rooted in shared values and goals.

The event celebrated the shared history and ongoing collaboration between the two nations, further strengthening their diplomatic and cultural ties.
