Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the passing of Ambassador Santa Laker Kinyera, Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner to Rwanda.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry said Ambassador Kinyera passed away this morning at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
“It is with profound shock and sorrow that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the passing of our dear colleague,” the statement read.
Ambassador Kinyera joined the Ministry in 1994 as a career diplomat and rose steadily through the ranks during her three decades of service. Over the years, she held various assignments at headquarters and abroad, earning recognition for her professionalism and commitment to advancing Uganda’s foreign policy objectives.
At the time of her passing, she was serving as Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner in Kigali, where she played a key role in strengthening diplomatic ties between Uganda and Rwanda.
Colleagues described her as dedicated, principled, and deeply committed to public service. Her death marks a significant loss to Uganda’s diplomatic corps and the wider foreign service community.
The Ministry said details regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
