Ugandan-heritage midfielder Divine Mukasa has committed his future to Manchester City after signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Premier League champions until 2030.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, widely regarded as one of City’s brightest academy prospects, joined the club in 2023 and has rapidly risen through the ranks from the Under-18s to the first team under manager Pep Guardiola.

Mukasa made his senior debut for City in September 2025 and has since featured six times for the first team. During the second half of last season, he gained valuable experience on loan at Leicester City, where he scored two goals and provided three assists in 15 Championship appearances.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Mukasa expressed his excitement about the future and his determination to continue developing at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

“I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me,” he said. “I have learnt so much since the day I arrived at the Club from players and staff alike. The experiences I have gained have definitely bettered me as a player and a person.”

City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, hailed the youngster’s progress and potential, describing the contract extension as excellent news for the club.

“In Divine, I feel we have someone with huge potential. Since he came to City in 2023, he has consistently improved and developed. He works hard, shows humility and is eager to learn,” Viana said.

Mukasa enjoyed a standout 2024/25 youth campaign, registering an impressive 16 goals and 15 assists in just 20 Under-18 Premier League appearances. He also played a key role in City’s FA Youth Cup success and captained the Elite Development Squad on several occasions.

Despite his strong Ugandan heritage, Mukasa was born in London and currently represents England at youth international level, having featured up to the Under-19 side. However, his roots mean he remains a player closely followed by Ugandan football fans, many of whom hope he could one day consider representing Uganda at senior international level.

The new contract underlines Manchester City’s belief that Mukasa could become an important figure in the club’s future, with the gifted midfielder now set to continue his development at the Etihad Stadium for at least the next four years.
