Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Zaake Kibedi, has lauded the growing strength of Uganda-UAE relations, crediting the annual Uganda-UAE Business Forum for driving up trade, investment, and employment opportunities for Ugandans abroad.
Speaking at the ongoing 4th Uganda-UAE Business Forum at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Ambassador Kibedi noted that bilateral trade between the two countries has surged nearly fivefold in recent years.

“The forum has facilitated trade increase. We have grown from two to six direct flights between Uganda and the UAE. Trade has increased from $600 million in 2018 to $2.85 billion to date, making the UAE the number one destination for Ugandan products,” Ambassador Kibedi said.
He further highlighted the human capital connection between the two nations, revealing that the number of Ugandans working in the UAE has risen from 40,000 in 2018 to 160,000 today, contributing significantly to the economy through annual remittances worth $350 million.
Ambassador Kibedi praised both governments for sustaining a partnership that has translated into tangible economic gains and enhanced people-to-people relations.

He also pointed out that increased air connectivity and business engagements have paved the way for new investment opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and technology.
The Uganda-UAE Business Forum 2025, which runs from October 27–29 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, brings together policymakers, investors, and business leaders under the theme “Accelerating Bilateral Investment for Sustainable Growth.”
