Uganda, UAE Deepen Economic Ties as PM Nabbanja Welcomes $3bn in Investments

Uganda’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, led a business delegation to the United Arab Emirates, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) under the warm reception of the Chamber’s First Vice Chairman, H.E. Shamis Bin Ali Al Dhaheri. Bearing “fraternal greetings” from H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda, Prime Minister Nabbanja praised the forum for strengthening Uganda-UAE relations.

Hon. Nabbanja acknowledged UAE as Uganda’s top export destination in the Middle East, highlighting over $3 billion invested in Uganda by UAE companies. She extended gratitude to ADCCI’s Chairman, H.E. Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, and the UAE government for hosting the 3rd Uganda-UAE Business Forum. She further welcomed collaboration between the ADCCI and the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announcing a cooperative agreement prepared for signing.

Encouraging ADCCI members to explore Uganda’s trade and investment landscape, Nabbanja extended an invitation to carry out a mission visit, proposing a roadshow to promote investment in Uganda’s agro-processing, agriculture, minerals (oil and gas), tourism, healthcare, and energy sectors.

Uganda’s delegation included prominent officials: Hon. John Mulimba, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation); H.E. Zaake Wanume Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE; Mr. Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary to the Treasury; Mr. Patrick M. Ayota, Managing Director of Uganda’s National Social Security Fund; and Ambassador Santa Mary Laker – Kinyera, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
