Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, on Monday held a high-level meeting with Mehmet Fatih Ak at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Uganda and Türkiye, with particular emphasis on expanding economic partnerships and promoting people-to-people connections.

Both sides underscored the importance of joint efforts in addressing shared global and regional challenges, while advancing mutual strategic interests.

Hon. Odongo confirmed his upcoming participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, scheduled to take place later this week in Antalya. During the forum, he is expected to meet his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, for further bilateral engagements.

“Relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Türkiye remain strong. I intend to meet Foreign Minister Fidan while in Antalya to have discussions on how to further strengthen our historical bilateral ties,” Odongo said.

Ambassador Ak reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Uganda, particularly in key sectors such as education and infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for sustained engagement to promote long-term, sustainable growth.

The two officials agreed to maintain regular diplomatic dialogue to ensure the effective implementation of ongoing initiatives, while also exploring new avenues of cooperation that would benefit both nations and contribute to regional peace and stability.
