In addition to the monetary support, President Museveni urged the Danish delegation to contribute to Uganda’s wetland reclamation program. He emphasized the importance of removing illegal rice growers from the swamps to preserve the delicate ecosystem. The President proposed a shift towards fish farming on the periphery of the wetlands, allowing the center to regenerate and preventing further damage to the Nile tributaries.

“We must avoid destroying the Nile tributaries,” President Museveni stated, underscoring the significance of protecting these vital water sources. The proposed wetland reclamation program aligns with Uganda’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices and responsible resource management.

Mr. Dan Jorgensen who was accompanied by Danish officials who included the ambassador to Uganda, H.E Signe Winding Albjerg expressed Denmark’s dedication to collaborating with Uganda on these crucial initiatives.
