Uganda, Ethiopia Hold Talks on Cooperation and Regional Stability

Hon. Okello Oryem, Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation on Tuesday met with Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Uganda H.E Etsegenet Yimenu Bezabih to discuss ways of deepening bilateral ties and addressing pressing regional issues.

The two leaders exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between Addis Ababa and Kampala in key areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement.

They also discussed regional affairs, with emphasis on promoting peace, security, and stability in the Horn of Africa and the wider East African region.

Ambassador Yimenu reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to advancing relations with Uganda, describing the partnership as essential for regional integration.

On his part, Hon. Oryem stressed Uganda’s readiness to work closely with Ethiopia in addressing shared challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The meeting comes at a time when both countries continue to play key roles in peacekeeping and conflict resolution efforts in the region.

Both countries contribute to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia.
