Uganda, Cuba ink trade partnership on NAM side-lines

Her Excellency Vice President Jessica Alupo of Uganda met with His Excellency Salvador Antonio Valdes, the Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, in a bilateral meeting held earlier on Thursday afternoon.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on trade, marking a milestone in the efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.

The bilateral talks, hosted at Alupo’s office in Kampala, focused on enhancing collaboration and fostering mutually beneficial trade relations. Vice President Alupo and her Cuban counterpart Valdes expressed their commitment to deepening the ties that bind Uganda and Cuba, exploring avenues for increased economic engagement.

Thursday’s signed Memorandum of Understanding outlines a framework for trade cooperation, laying the groundwork for expanded commercial relations between the two countries. The agreement is most likely to encompass various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, technology, and education, with both nations aiming to leverage their respective strengths for mutual development.

The signing ceremony was attended by delegations from both Uganda and Cuba, reflecting the significance of the occasion. As the ink dried on the Memorandum of Understanding, it symbolized a commitment to fostering not only economic ties but also cultural exchange and collaboration in various fields.
