Salva Kiir Arrives in Kinshasa for Talks With Tshisekedi on DRC-Rwanda Tensions

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has touched down in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), for talks with President Felix Tshisekedi.

Kiir’s visit, part of his ongoing regional peace efforts, specifically focuses on diffusing tensions between Rwanda and the DRC.

According to Lily Adhieu Martin, the Presidential Press Secretary, Kiir’s presence underscores his commitment to fostering stability and cooperation within the East African Community (EAC).

Upon his arrival at Ndjili International Airport, President Kiir was warmly received by a high-level delegation, headed by Congolese Prime Minister Lukonde Sama, signifying the significance of the talks.

President Tshisekedi is hosting President Kiir for a private meeting, setting the stage for deeper discussions scheduled for Monday morning.

The leaders will convene at the Palais de la Nation for a tête-à-tête session followed by a working meeting, aimed at addressing the underlying issues and finding constructive solutions to the DRC-Rwanda tensions.
