ROKO Construction Ltd has been named Contractor of the Year by the Uganda National Association of Builders, Suppliers and Engineering Contractors (UNABSEC), in recognition of its outstanding performance and contribution to Uganda’s construction sector.
The award was presented on 12 December 2025 during a colourful ceremony held at the Imperial Royale Hotel. The event formed part of the UNABSEC Construction Awards 2025, officially known as the Uganda Construction Excellence Awards (UCEA) 2025.
The UCEA initiative seeks to recognise excellence across Uganda’s construction industry, celebrating innovation, professionalism, leadership, quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainable construction practices. The platform brings together industry leaders, emerging professionals, and key stakeholders to acknowledge organisations and individuals shaping the country’s infrastructure development.
UNABSEC, formerly the Uganda National Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (UNABCEC), is a non-profit, member-driven national trade association representing more than 457 registered contractors and construction-related companies nationwide.
Commenting on the recognition, ROKO Construction Ltd Chairman and Managing Director, Mark Koehler, said the award reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to quality and professionalism.
“This award is a strong encouragement to our teams across all levels of the company. Delivering quality projects has always been central to ROKO’s approach,” Koehler said.
“Quality is embedded in how we work. We place great emphasis on careful planning, monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement, all aligned with international standards.”
Koehler added that the company is positioning itself to undertake larger and more complex infrastructure projects in the coming year, while maintaining a strong focus on reliability and client satisfaction.
“Our focus remains on delivering high-quality infrastructure that meets our clients’ expectations and contributes positively to Uganda’s development,” he said.
He further noted that ROKO’s consistent performance is underpinned by strong internal capacity, with the company being largely self-sufficient across most construction disciplines and placing emphasis on training technicians and craftsmen to achieve high standards of workmanship.
This year, ROKO successfully handed over several major national projects, including the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja and the new headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
Construction is also progressing steadily on other significant projects, including works at the Parliament of Uganda and the National Planning Authority headquarters (Planning House), which are now entering critical phases of execution.
Together, these projects underscore ROKO Construction Ltd’s continued contribution to Uganda’s national infrastructure development across multiple sectors.
