PS Dr Atwine Hails Global Fund Commitment to Support Uganda’s Healthcare Advancements

Uganda’s Ministry of Health PS Dr. Diana Atwine, has hailed the visit of Global Fund CEO Mr. Peter Sands to Uganda lauding, his commitment to the country’s goals. The visit, aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and innovation, saw engaging discussions with the National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS).

Dr. Atwine expressed her delight at the insightful deliberations, emphasizing the importance of investing in transformative healthcare solutions within Uganda rather than relying solely on imported interventions. This sentiment was echoed during Mr. Sands’ meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, where the critical need for investing in the knowledge economy, vaccines, medicines, and scientific innovations was underscored.

Mr. Sands, demonstrating his commitment to collaboration, expressed readiness to work with local markets to ensure a consistent supply of essential medical supplies, aligning with the mutual goal of advancing healthcare in Uganda.

In a remarkable show of solidarity, Mr. Sands accompanied Ugandan health officials to Kibuku District for the National Commemoration of World Malaria Day. Together, they championed the theme “Saying No to Malaria Deaths,” reaffirming their joint dedication to eradicating this deadly disease.

The event, graced by esteemed guests including Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in the fight against malaria.
