President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda welcomed Venezuelan envoys to State House Nakasero in Kampala. The high-level delegation from Venezuela, led by Hon. Yvan Edwardo Gil Pinto, the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, and Hon. Yuri Pimentel Moura, the Vice Minister for Africa, arrived in Uganda to explore avenues of cooperation and strengthen the friendly relations between the two nations.
President Museveni expressed his gratitude to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for dispatching the delegation to promote collaboration and facilitate closer ties between their countries. During the meeting, discussions revolved around areas of mutual interest, including energy, agriculture, health, and education.
In his opening remarks, President Museveni underscored the importance of fostering strong international partnerships and highlighted the potential for both countries to benefit from working together. He expressed his optimism about the visit, saying, “We believe this is a great opportunity for Uganda and Venezuela to enhance cooperation, share knowledge, and create opportunities for economic development.”
Foreign Minister Yvan Edwardo Gil Pinto conveyed President Maduro’s greetings and expressed his appreciation for the warm reception in Uganda. He echoed President Museveni’s sentiments about the benefits of collaboration and emphasized that both nations had much to offer each other.
“We are here to explore various areas of collaboration, ranging from energy solutions to agricultural advancements, healthcare, and educational opportunities. Venezuela and Uganda can complement each other’s strengths and contribute to the well-being of our people,” Minister Gil Pinto stated.
Hon. Yuri Pimentel Moura, the Vice Minister for Africa, added to the discussion, elaborating on specific initiatives that could be pursued to deepen bilateral relations. He noted, “We see great potential for cooperation in the fields of energy and agriculture. Uganda has made remarkable progress in these sectors, and we believe that by working together, we can enhance our energy infrastructure and agricultural productivity.”
Health and education were also at the forefront of the talks, with both nations expressing interest in sharing knowledge and resources in these crucial areas.
The meeting at State House Nakasero concluded with a commitment to further discussions, as well as the establishment of working groups to explore concrete projects for collaboration. The envoys from Venezuela praised the warm reception they received in Uganda and expressed their eagerness to see this partnership flourish.
As Uganda and Venezuela embark on this journey to strengthen their bilateral relations, it is clear that both nations are eager to explore opportunities that can lead to mutual prosperity.
