President Museveni engages Sudan’s Gen. Daglo Hemeti in talks to end conflict

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni hosted Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, the former Deputy Chair of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, at his country home in Rwakitura. The meeting, held in a spirit of diplomatic dialogue, focused on strategies and initiatives aimed at bringing an end to the enduring conflict in Sudan.

President Museveni, known for his regional diplomatic engagement and conflict resolution efforts, engaged in discussions with Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, popularly known as Hemeti, on multifaceted approaches to achieve sustainable peace and stability in Sudan. The talks delved into the root causes of the conflict, exploring viable pathways for reconciliation, and fostering an environment conducive to lasting peace.

The meeting between the two leaders emphasized the critical need for inclusive dialogue among Sudanese stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of involving various factions and communities in the peace process. President Museveni reiterated Uganda’s commitment to supporting Sudan in its quest for peace and reiterated the significance of regional cooperation in addressing the Sudanese crisis.
