The Uganda Police Force said on Sunday it is verifying social media reports alleging the abduction of Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira.
In a brief statement posted on X, said it had taken note of the claims circulating online and is working to establish the facts surrounding the whereabouts of the clergyman.
“We are currently verifying these claims and will provide an update once sufficient information about the Reverend Father is obtained,” police said.
Authorities did not provide further details, including when or where the alleged abduction may have occurred, and urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
There was no immediate comment from church authorities regarding Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Ssekabira.
