Hon. Fadil Twalla (L) as the new Secretary General

Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) chairman and Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced the appointment of Hon. Fadil Twalla as the new Secretary General of the political pressure group, replacing Hon. David Kabanda.

In a statement, Gen. Kainerugaba welcomed Twalla to the influential position and pledged to work closely with him to advance the organization’s objectives.

“The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadil Twalla. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives,” Gen. Kainerugaba said.

The CDF also paid tribute to the outgoing Secretary General, Hon. David Kabanda, thanking him for his service over the last three years.

“I thank Hon. Kabanda for his three years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position,” he added.

Twalla takes over the role at a time when PLU is expanding its mobilization activities across the country and positioning itself as a key political force ahead of future national engagements.

Kabanda has been credited by supporters for helping build the organization’s structures and visibility since its formation, with Gen. Kainerugaba’s remarks suggesting his tenure leaves big shoes to fill.

The appointment signals a new chapter for PLU as Twalla assumes responsibility for overseeing the group’s day-to-day operations and coordinating its activities nationwide.

Political observers will now be watching closely to see how the new Secretary General steers the organization as it seeks to consolidate its growing influence in Uganda’s political landscape.
