In a significant diplomatic gesture, Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, General Jeje Odongo, officially received a generous consignment of buses, ambulances, tractors, and assorted flags from the Republic of India.
The items, aimed at facilitating the upcoming NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) and G77+China Summits, as well as accommodating observer nations and international organizations, were handed over at the Ministry Headquarters in Kampala.

High Commissioner of India to Uganda, His Excellency Upender Singh Rawat, personally delivered the donation, symbolizing the strong ties between the two nations. The timing of the contribution is particularly noteworthy as it precedes the two significant summits scheduled for January 15-20 and January 21-22, 2024, respectively. Both events are set to take place at the prestigious Speke Resort Hotel in Munyoyo, Kampala.
This consignment includes a fleet of 10 executive buses, 5 ambulances, 10 tractors and 2664 flags/flag poles, essential, underscoring India’s commitment to ensuring smooth logistics during these international gatherings. The provision of ambulances further emphasizes the importance placed on the safety and well-being of attendees.
The donation also encompasses tractors, indicating a commitment to bolstering agricultural initiatives and development within Uganda. This aligns with India’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable growth in its partner countries.
The flags will be prominently displayed, representing the diversity and collective strength of the participating nations and organizations.
Foreign Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo expressed gratitude for the generous donation, highlighting the significance of India’s support in hosting these critical summits.
He commended the longstanding friendship between Uganda and India, noting that such gestures strengthen diplomatic relations and contribute to the success of international initiatives.
High Commissioner Upender Singh Rawat affirmed India’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties and collaboration with Uganda.
The HC also emphasized the importance of the NAM and G77+China Summits in addressing global challenges and promoting mutual understanding among nations.
