The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) is set to unveil its state-of-the-art Military Referral Hospital on April 30, in what is being hailed as a major milestone for the country’s healthcare system. The announcement was made by CDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who described the facility as the best hospital in Uganda and potentially the finest in East Africa.

“We will open our beautiful Military Referral Hospital on April 30. The President will open our hospital. It’s going to be the BEST hospital in Uganda, maybe in East Africa. I congratulate all of UPDF for this great achievement,” General Kainerugaba said.

The hospital, which has been under development for several years, is expected to provide world-class medical care to members of the armed forces, their families, and civilians in need of specialized treatment. Equipped with modern medical technology and highly trained personnel, the facility is anticipated to ease the burden on Uganda’s existing healthcare infrastructure.

The inauguration of the hospital comes as part of broader efforts by the UPDF to enhance the welfare of its personnel and contribute to national development through improved healthcare services. The hospital’s opening is also expected to strengthen Uganda’s position as a regional hub for medical excellence.

President Yoweri Museveni will preside over the grand opening, marking another milestone in Uganda’s ongoing efforts to modernize its healthcare sector.
