President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has concluded his campaign rallies in the Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions with a major address in Kyenjojo District, urging Ugandans to safeguard the peace the NRM has upheld for the last four decades.

The President thanked the people of Rwenzori and Tooro for what he described as a “massive and encouraging turnout” throughout the campaign trail. He noted that the elders of the region vividly remember the difficult years of insecurity, especially incursions that used to spill over from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and emphasized that such instability must never be allowed to return.

“For 40 years, the NRM has kept peace, and this peace must be protected,” President Museveni said, stressing that stability remains the foundation for all development and prosperity.

Addressing infrastructure, he assured residents that government will work on the Fort Portal–Kijura road to further unlock economic potential in the region and ease transport for traders and farmers.

On wealth creation, the President reminded voters that Uganda has always had the natural capacity for prosperity, long before modern infrastructure existed. Citing the 1887 journey of explorer Henry Morton Stanley through Bunyoro—where he reportedly found extensive cultivation and abundant food—Museveni said this historical example proves that true wealth begins at the household level.

“Uganda was already rich before paved roads or electricity. What we need is for every family to enter the money economy,” he noted, urging communities to adopt commercial agriculture and other income-generating activities to secure long-term prosperity.

His message to the Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions remained anchored in peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation as the pillars of Uganda’s continued progress.
