The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) has announced a groundbreaking Public-Private Partnership with Ryder Media and the Private Office of Chief Nana Dakrabo I to produce major films in Uganda. The first project will be a high-impact docuseries highlighting Uganda’s rich history, transformation, and cultural vibrancy.

This strategic partnership aligns with PACEID’s mission to position Uganda as a global hub for organic agricultural exports, a top destination for tourism, business, and investment, while also marking a milestone for Uganda’s creative economy as an emerging export sector.

Under President Yoweri Museveni’s vision to transform Uganda’s economy through exports, PACEID has identified film and media as key industries to drive economic growth, create jobs, and promote Uganda’s rich heritage internationally. The initiative also contributes to Uganda’s ambitious goal of reaching USD 6 billion in exports by 2028 and USD 100 billion by 2062.

“Uganda is on an unprecedented path of growth and development, and it is essential that the world sees the incredible opportunities and progress our nation is making,” said Odrek Rwabwogo, Chairman of PACEID. “This collaboration is more than just producing movies—it’s the foundation of a global movement to elevate Uganda’s presence in international markets, attract investment, and establish the creative sector as a pillar of Uganda’s export economy.”

The production, led by Hollywood creator and executive producer JoJo Ryder, is set to be one of the most ambitious media projects ever undertaken in Uganda. Ryder, known for projects like American Heist (starring Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen), Talks with Mama Tina (featuring Zendaya and Kevin Hart), and A Little White Lie (starring Kate Hudson and Michael Shannon), has previously worked on Emmy- and Oscar-nominated productions.

In January 2025, Ryder and his team traveled across Uganda, meeting key figures, visiting significant sites, exploring emerging industries, and capturing stunning visuals that will bring Uganda’s story to life on a global stage. “Our trip to Uganda was truly eye-opening,” Ryder remarked. “The people, the culture, and the vast economic potential make it a story that must be told. From its entrepreneurial spirit to its natural beauty, this is a country ready to make its mark in global media and entertainment.”

This partnership will merge Uganda’s governmental initiatives with Hollywood storytelling expertise, positioning Uganda as a premier film destination in Africa. As filming begins, the project is set to create new avenues for foreign investment, expand trade relationships, and elevate Uganda’s standing in the global media landscape.
