Honorable Richard Todwong, the Secretary General of Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, hosted Venezuela’s Ambassador to Uganda, Fátima Fernandes, at the party headquarters in Kampala. The meeting aimed to reaffirm and strengthen the cooperation and ties of friendship between the two nations.
The discussions, held in a cordial atmosphere, highlighted the commitment of both parties to fostering mutual understanding and collaboration on various fronts, including politics, trade, and cultural exchange.

Todwong expressed gratitude for Venezuela’s decision to open her embassy in Kampala and commended the positive role played by Ambassador Fernandes in enhancing bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic ties in fostering peace and development between nations.
Ambassador Fernandes reciprocated the sentiments, expressing Venezuela’s eagerness to deepen collaboration with Uganda.
She praised Uganda’s achievements under the leadership of the NRM and highlighted the potential for increased cooperation in areas such as agriculture, education, and healthcare.

Both parties acknowledged the importance of international solidarity and mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty. They pledged to explore avenues for increased economic cooperation, with an emphasis on trade partnerships that would benefit the citizens of both nations.
At the meeting, in which the Director of Foreign Relations of the NRM, Awich Pola, participated, Ambassador Fernandes recalled the 25 years of the Bolivarian Revolution and congratulated Uganda and the NRM on the 38th Anniversary of National Liberation.
