Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has sent an official message of congratulations to H.E. Donald Trump on his recent election as President of the United States. The message, sent on behalf of the Ugandan people, hailed Trump’s victory in both the popular vote and the Electoral College as a testament to the will of the American people.

President Museveni’s message highlighted the “historic victory” achieved by Trump and emphasized the Ugandan government’s anticipation of fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with the new U.S. administration. Museveni noted that Trump’s election reflected the sentiments of the American populace and expressed hope for further collaboration between the two nations, especially in areas of peace and cooperation.

“Your Excellency, I am writing on behalf of the people of Uganda to congratulate you on the historic victory you achieved on the 8th of November, 2024,” Museveni wrote in the letter. “We, the freedom-loving people of Uganda, look forward to mutually beneficial engagement with your administration,” he added, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to advancing diplomatic relations with the U.S.

Museveni’s congratulatory note comes at a time when Uganda seeks to strengthen its international ties, particularly with Western allies, to foster peace, economic development, and enhanced cooperation in various fields, including security, trade, and health. In recent years, Uganda and the U.S. have collaborated on several initiatives, particularly in health and counter-terrorism, areas expected to continue under Trump’s incoming administration.

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, won in a decisive election against VP Kamala Harris that saw high voter turnout. His platform emphasized American resilience, economic revival, and strong international alliances.

Uganda and the U.S. have enjoyed a longstanding diplomatic relationship, with collaborations in key areas such as regional security, humanitarian assistance, and economic support. Museveni’s outreach signals Uganda’s commitment to maintaining and expanding this partnership under the Trump administration.

Museveni signed off the letter with his signature phrase, “Yours-in-search for peace and mutually beneficial co-operation,” a sentiment that underscores the Ugandan government’s commitment to peaceful and prosperous international relations.
