Uganda has pledged its strong support for multilateral cooperation, peace, and sustainable development at the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit in Luanda, Angola.

Delivering President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s message, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja said Uganda remains firmly committed to collective action as the most effective path toward addressing global and continental challenges.

Prime Minister Nabbanja conveyed President Museveni’s call for greater investment in peace and security across Africa, noting that stability on the continent directly benefits both Africa and the wider international community.

“Through such investments, Africa can build stable societies capable of engaging in mutually beneficial trade and investment, as well as reduce irregular migration,” she added.

President Museveni’s message emphasized that a peaceful, secure Africa is the foundation upon which prosperity, cooperation, and sustainable development can thrive. He urged AU and EU member states to deepen collaboration in conflict prevention, crisis response, and institution building.

The high-level summit brought together heads of state and government from the two unions to reaffirm a shared commitment to multilateralism, solidarity, and joint action in confronting common priorities—ranging from peace and security to climate resilience, trade, migration, digital transformation, and economic integration.

This year’s gathering is particularly significant as it comes at a time when Africa and Europe are seeking to modernize and stabilize their long-standing partnership amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.

The Leaders’ deliberations are expected to shape the future direction of AU–EU cooperation and reinforce the ambition for a partnership rooted in equality and shared prosperity.
