Museveni Sends Special Message to Tshisekedi

DR Congo President Félix Tshisekedi on Tuesday hosted Uganda’s State Minister fir Regional Integration Hon John Mulimba at the Cité de l’Union africaine in Kinshasa, where the Ugandan minister delivered a special message from Yoweri Museveni.

According to the Congolese presidency, Mulimba conveyed an official invitation from President Museveni inviting Tshisekedi to attend his forthcoming swearing-in ceremony following Uganda’s recent electoral process.

Museveni will be sworn-in on May 12.

The high-level diplomatic engagement also focused on strengthening ties between Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo, with both sides expected to sign several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

The planned agreements are anticipated to cover key sectors of mutual interest including regional integration, trade, infrastructure development, security cooperation, and cross-border relations.

Relations between Kampala and Kinshasa have in recent years grown significantly, particularly in joint military operations against armed groups operating in eastern Congo, as well as in infrastructure projects such as road construction linking the two neighboring countries.

The meeting at the African Union City also ongoing efforts by both governments to maintain close diplomatic coordination amid evolving regional political and security dynamics in the Great Lakes region.
