Museveni, Qatar Amir Hold Phone Talks Following National Mourning

KAMPALA/DOHA – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held telephone talks with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, to convey Uganda’s condolences following the passing of His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), President Museveni expressed his sympathy during the call, joining world leaders in mourning the death of the influential Qatari statesman, whose leadership transformed the Gulf nation into a major global economic and diplomatic force.

In response, HH Sheikh Tamim expressed his appreciation for President Museveni’s gesture and thanked him for extending condolences on behalf of Uganda.

The phone call underscores the warm diplomatic ties between Uganda and Qatar, which have continued to deepen in recent years through cooperation in investment, trade, labour, aviation and infrastructure development. The two countries have maintained regular high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
