Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Friday met with H.E. Malik Agar, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, for discussions on the current situation in Sudan.

According to President Museveni, the meeting at State House Entebbe, focused on the prevailing security and political developments in the country, as well as ongoing efforts aimed at restoring stability amid the prolonged conflict.

The President emphasized that peace in Sudan remains critical not only for the Sudanese people but also for the broader stability of the region, given Sudan’s strategic position in the Horn of Africa and its impact on neighboring countries.

Sudan has faced sustained instability since fighting erupted between rival factions in 2023, triggering a humanitarian crisis and regional security concerns. Uganda has consistently called for dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

President Museveni reiterated that durable peace in Sudan is essential for regional integration, trade, and collective security across East and Central Africa.
