President Yoweri Museveni, together with the NRM leadership, held his first rally today at Kayomba Primary School in Kitagwenda, emphasizing the party’s commitment to peace, development, and economic empowerment in the region.
During the rally, President Museveni expressed gratitude for meeting veteran comrade Mzee Bruhan Sserunga, acknowledging his understanding of the challenges facing fishing communities and pledging to engage with him further on these issues.

“We thank the LDU for supporting the UPDF in defeating the ADF here. As neighbours to Congo, the people of Kitagwenda know the cost of war. The NRM has safeguarded peace, which protects both lives and property,” Museveni stated.
Mzee Bruhan Sserunga, father to presidential candidate, Mubarak Munyagwa urged Kitagwenda residents to vote for Museveni.
On development matters, the President announced that funding has been secured for the Ibanda–Kagongo–Kabujogera–Kamwenge road, a key infrastructure project expected to boost connectivity and trade in the area.
He also commended the farmers of Kitagwenda, noting that 60 percent of households are now participating in the money economy, and promised to address remaining concerns during his upcoming radio talk show.
Concluding the rally, Museveni encouraged the people of Kitagwenda to continue supporting development initiatives under the NRM banner.
