Museveni, Dutch Ambassador Discuss Expanding Uganda-Netherlands Agricultural Partnership

June 4, 2026

President Yoweri Museveni has held discussions with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, Frederieke Quispel, on strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The Monday meeting focused on ongoing collaboration in the agriculture sector, a key area of partnership between Uganda and the Netherlands. During the discussions, Ambassador Quispel briefed the President on an ongoing study tour in the Netherlands involving Ugandan farmers.

According to Museveni, the tour is providing participating farmers with exposure to modern agricultural technologies, innovative farming methods, and best practices aimed at improving productivity and efficiency in Uganda's agricultural sector.

The President welcomed the continued cooperation and praised the cordial relations between Uganda and the Netherlands, noting that the partnership continues to advance areas of mutual interest.

“I also held discussions with H.E. Frederieke Quispel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on continued agricultural cooperation between Uganda and the Netherlands. She also updated me on the ongoing study tour to the Netherlands, where Ugandan farmers are gaining exposure to modern technologies and innovative farming practices,” Museveni said.

He added that the strong relationship between the two countries continues to create opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.

The Netherlands is one of Uganda’s longstanding development and trade partners and has been actively involved in supporting agricultural modernization initiatives, agribusiness development, and capacity-building programs aimed at enhancing food security and economic growth.

The latest engagement underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation and leverage innovation and technology to transform Uganda’s agricultural sector.
