Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Paul Kagame and the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) party on their decisive victory in Rwanda’s national elections.

In a statement issued on his X account, President Museveni praised Kagame’s re-election as a clear testament to the trust and confidence the Rwandan people have in his leadership.

“Your Excellency, Paul Kagame, I wish to congratulate you and the RPF party on the victory in Rwanda’s national elections. Your re-election is a testament to the trust and confidence the people of Rwanda have in your leadership,” President Museveni stated.

Highlighting the strong bilateral relations between Uganda and Rwanda, Museveni emphasized the importance of Rwanda as a strategic ally. He expressed his optimism for continued collaboration aimed at fostering peace and prosperity for both nations and the broader East African Community.

“Uganda recognizes Rwanda as a strategic ally with a shared vision of peace and prosperity. I look forward to collaborating with you for the benefit of our nations and the East African Community,” Museveni added.

The re-election of President Kagame has been widely seen as an affirmation of his administration’s achievements and vision for Rwanda’s future. The two leaders have previously worked together on various initiatives within the East African Community, and Museveni’s congratulatory message highlights the commitment to maintaining and strengthening this partnership.

His statement also puts to rest doubts about relations between Kampala and Kigali that were strained in previous years.
