President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially launched the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party manifesto for the 2026–2031 term, reaffirming the party’s commitment to peace, security, and economic transformation.
The launch took place alongside First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The function was also attended by NRM party bosses.
Reflecting on the NRM’s historical role in Uganda’s liberation, President Museveni praised the courage of the Movement’s leaders who risked their lives between 1965 and 1986 to free the country from dictatorship and chaos.
“The greatest legacy of the NRM has been the peace and security we now enjoy, thanks to the dedicated people of Uganda—the wanainchi—and the UPDF,” Museveni said.
Looking ahead, the President emphasized three key pillars for Uganda’s transformation: development, infrastructure, and wealth creation. He noted that Uganda’s 40 million acres of arable land provide a massive opportunity for job creation.
“With proper utilization of our resources, we have the potential to create over 105 million jobs. By harnessing these resources effectively, we can provide abundant employment opportunities right here at home,” Museveni declared.
The manifesto outlines strategies to consolidate gains in peace and security while accelerating socio-economic growth. It also seeks to expand agro-industrialization, enhance infrastructure development, and empower Ugandans through wealth creation initiatives.
The launch marks the start of the NRM’s campaign for the 2026 elections, with the party banking on its record of stability and progress to secure another mandate.
