Works and Transport Minister Hon. Fred Byamukama has issued a Monday deadline to the contractor handling maintenance works on the Northern Bypass, ordering urgent completion of the repairs that have left motorists stuck in frustrating traffic jams.

“I’m giving the contractor up to Monday next week to complete the ongoing maintenance works on the Northern Bypass,” Byamukama declared.

The Minister made the directive on Monday afternoon during an inspection of the Namungoona–Bwaise section, one of the busiest stretches on the bypass, where ongoing works have triggered prolonged congestion and delays.

Byamukama expressed concern over the inconvenience faced by road users and instructed the contractor to immediately scale up manpower, equipment deployment, and operations to ensure the works are completed within the set deadline.

The Northern Bypass is a major transport artery for Kampala, providing a crucial link for commuters, cargo movement, and motorists connecting to different parts of the city.
