Kadaga Launches Mission to Recover EAC Funds After Vetting

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, has announced plans to visit capitals across the East African Community (EAC) bloc to urge member states to fulfill their financial obligations to the regional body.

Speaking after her vetting, Kadaga revealed that the EAC is currently being sustained largely through contributions from only four member states — Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda — while other partner states have fallen behind on their commitments.

“The others are not compliant as they should be, but I am planning to move to all capitals to make an appeal to ensure that money is found because they are partners and they enjoy the services but should also contribute,” she said.

Kadaga stressed that all member states benefit from the Community’s programmes and services and should therefore contribute their fair share towards its operations and development agenda.
