Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Gen. Jeje Odongo, on Wednesday held high-level talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, as part of Uganda’s ongoing official visit to the Russian Federation.
The diplomatic engagement, conducted in a in has been described as a cordial and constructive atmosphere, focused on deepening bilateral relations and enhancing Uganda-Russia cooperation on international platforms, including the United Nations and other multilateral bodies.
Minister Odongo highlighted Uganda’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Russia, particularly in the areas of global governance, trade, and multilateral diplomacy.
The two ministers exchanged views on key global developments. They also discussed ongoing preparations for the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ugandan Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Minister Lavrov welcomed Uganda’s growing engagement with Russia and reiterated Moscow’s readiness to work closely with Kampala across political, economic, and security dimensions.
Minister Odongo is accompanying Uganda’s Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo, who is leading a senior government delegation on an official visit aimed at expanding Uganda-Russia relations.
