Jeje, Indian High Commissioner Seal Plans for BRICS, Africa Forum

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odongo Jeje Abubaker, today held a high-level meeting with Upender Singh Rawat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirming the strong and growing ties between Uganda and India.

The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular attention to Uganda’s participation in the upcoming BRICS Summit and the India-Africa Forum Summit. Hon. Jeje Odongo confirmed Uganda’s readiness to take part in both engagements, highlighting their strategic importance in advancing Uganda’s national development priorities and Africa’s broader economic agenda.

The two leaders also explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration in key sectors including education, cultural exchange, tourism development, and information and communication technology (ICT). These areas, they noted, remain central to strengthening people-to-people ties and unlocking economic growth.

Hon. Odongo commended the Indian High Commissioner for his continued efforts in promoting practical cooperation between the two countries, noting that Uganda values its longstanding partnership with India.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further consolidate bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, reinforcing Uganda and India’s enduring diplomatic and economic partnership.
