President Yoweri Museveni on Friday afternoon met the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at State House, Entebbe, where he outlined the government’s key priorities for the Financial Year 2026/2027 budget and emphasized the strategic importance of the Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025.
During the meeting, the caucus agreed to focus on critical sectors deemed essential for Uganda’s stability and long-term development.
These include maintaining peace and security, expanding and upgrading road infrastructure, increasing electricity access, advancing the national railway project, promoting scientific innovation, and accelerating preparations to host AFCON 2027.
The President also highlighted targeted regional interventions, particularly restocking programs in Teso, Lango, and Acholi sub-regions, aimed at revitalizing livelihoods and boosting agricultural productivity.
In addition, the caucus endorsed salary enhancements for teachers, TVET instructors, and security personnel, recognizing their central role in human capital development, service delivery, and national stability.
President Museveni noted that these priorities are intended to drive Uganda’s socio-economic transformation while safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national interests.
