Health Ministry Hosts Russian Neonatology Experts to Enhance Maternal & New-born Health

Ministry of Health officials on Wednesday met with a delegation of professors in neonatology from the Russian Federation.

They were hosted by the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa at the ministry headquarters in Kampala.

The purpose of their visit was to explore opportunities for mutual global collaborations in maternal and new-born health.

During their three-day visit, the team of Russian experts engaged in discussions with Ugandan health officials to exchange knowledge and expertise in neonatology and maternal health. The discussions centered on identifying areas of collaboration and implementing strategies to enhance healthcare services for mothers and newborns in Uganda.

As part of their visit, the Russian delegation will conduct lectures on critical clinical issues in neonatology and maternal health at Mulago Specialised Women’s and Neonatal Hospital.

These lectures provide valuable insights and practical guidance to healthcare professionals, contributing to the improvement of clinical practices and patient care in Uganda.

Dr. Mwebesa expressed his gratitude to the Russian delegation for their valuable contributions and emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in advancing maternal and newborn health initiatives.

He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to promoting global health partnerships and fostering innovation in healthcare delivery.
