Gen Muhanga, ATMIS military chiefs discuss Somalia troops’ drawdown

Lt. Gen. Kayanja Muhanga, the Commander of the Uganda Land Force, held a meeting with Deputy Force Commander Maj. Gen. Marius Ngendabanka, who is in charge of Operations and Plans at the ATMIS Force Headquarters.

The high-level military summit aimed to deliberate on security matters in Somalia, particularly focusing on the ongoing transition process in the region.

Tuesday’s meeting, was attended by senior military officials from the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). Lt. Gen. Muhanga and Maj. Gen. Ngendabanka engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the current state of security in Somalia and the strategic plans for the transition process.

Sources indicate that the military leaders reviewed the progress made in the efforts to stabilize Somalia and pave the way for a smoother transition of responsibilities to local authorities. The security situation in the region has been a focal point for ATMIS, and the collaborative efforts of member nations, such as Uganda, play a pivotal role in achieving long-term stability.
