Ethiopia PM Abiy Invited As Rwabwogo, Amb. Etsegenet Plan Oulanyah Tribute Luncheon

On Friday, March 15, Odrek Rwabwogo, Presidential Advisor for Special Duties, along with Justice Minister Hon. Norbert Mao, briefed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of Ethiopia on the upcoming Mentorship Luncheon dedicated to the late Ugandan Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

During the briefing, Rwabwogo and Mao extended an invitation to Prime Minister Abiy to grace the occasion as the keynote speaker. They emphasized the importance of honoring Jacob Oulanyah, highlighting his dedication to justice, institutional building, and reconciliation despite differences.

Scheduled for March 28 at State House Entebbe, the Mentorship Luncheon aims to commemorate the values exemplified by Speaker Oulanyah in leadership. President Yoweri Museveni will be honoring 20 elders as part of the event, recognizing their contributions to promoting justice and unity in Uganda.

Odrek engaged Ambassador Etsegenet about Uganda’s history

In further preparations for the event, Odrek met with Her Excellency Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Uganda, today. During the meeting, Rwabwogo discussed the historical context of the Ugandan Movement and its evolution over the past 60 years.

He highlighted the influence of leaders such as Samora of Frelimo and Nyerere of CCM in shaping the organization’s values and principles.

Rwabwogo also shared insights into Uganda’s current developmental phase and emphasized the importance of establishing a trade pathway with Ethiopia. This exchange of ideas underscores the commitment of both Uganda and Ethiopia to strengthen bilateral relations and foster mutual prosperity.
