Entebbe International Airport Records Highest-Ever Passenger Traffic

Entebbe International Airport has registered its busiest month on record, handling 230,577 passengers in July 2025, the highest monthly traffic since its establishment.

According to figures from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the airport welcomed 119,127 arriving passengers and saw 111,450 departures, averaging 7,437 travelers per day.

Arrivals exceeded departures for the month.

The previous record was set in December 2024, when the airport handled 222,301 passengers, averaging 7,171 daily.

UCAA attributed the surge in July to several factors, including the influx of international delegations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), heightened tourism campaigns, a series of global conferences hosted in Uganda, and improved airline connectivity.

Cargo traffic also showed strong performance, with Entebbe handling 5,863 metric tonnes—comprising 3,961 tonnes of exports and 1,902 tonnes of imports.

Aviation experts say the milestone reflects Uganda’s growing profile as a regional hub for business, sports, and tourism.
