The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has designated the Entebbe Regional Service Centre (RSCE) as a hub to provide enhanced support services to UN entities, further cementing Uganda’s role as a key partner in multilateral operations.

Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Adonia Ayebare, confirmed the development, describing it as a vote of confidence in both the RSCE and the Government of Uganda.

“Happy to announce that the Entebbe Regional Service Centre has been selected by the United Nations Secretary-General to provide enhanced support services to UN entities. We thank Secretary-General António Guterres and his senior staff for their continued support. The Government of Uganda will provide all the needed support,” Amb. Ayebare said.

The RSCE, located in Entebbe, currently delivers administrative, financial, and human resources support to UN peacekeeping and special political missions across Africa.

Its elevation to an enhanced service provider is expected to streamline efficiency, cut costs, and strengthen operational effectiveness in mission areas.

Analysts view this decision as a strategic boost to Uganda’s standing within the UN system, underscoring the country’s role in promoting peacekeeping and regional stability.

The Ugandan government has pledged full cooperation to ensure the Centre continues to deliver on its expanded mandate.
