Uganda’s Ministry of Health has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Kampala, pushing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to nine, including one death.

In a press release issued Friday, the Ministry said the two latest confirmed patients are Congolese nationals and are already under isolation and close monitoring.

According to health officials, one of the new patients presented with symptoms consistent with Ebola and was swiftly isolated by rapid response teams immediately after the signs were detected.

“The rapid response teams acted swiftly to isolate the patient as soon as symptoms were noted,” the Ministry said, adding that all contacts linked to the newly confirmed case have already been identified and placed under close follow-up.

The second patient is reported to be a contact of a previously confirmed Ebola case, signaling continued transmission among monitored contacts.

The Ministry has urged the public to remain calm but highly vigilant as surveillance teams intensify monitoring in Kampala and surrounding areas.

Health authorities are reminding Ugandans to watch for Ebola symptoms including sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and unexplained bleeding, and to immediately report any suspected cases through the toll-free emergency hotline.

Officials say early reporting remains critical in controlling spread and improving chances of survival.

The latest development is expected to heighten concern across Kampala, with health teams now racing to trace contacts and contain any further transmission.
