The M23 rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have admitted that military strikes on their bases on Tuesday resulted in the death of two commanders.

They revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, in which they also accused the DRC government of violating a ceasefire.

Sources say the drone strike left many others injured.

On the same day, DRC’s army, FARDC together with SADC troops launched military operations against rebel groups in the country. They vowed to crush the M23 and return displaced people to their homes.
