Deputy Speaker Tayebwa, Holds Talks with French Envoy Xavier on Energy, Water, and Parliamentary Democracy

Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, engaged in a crucial and productive meeting with the French Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Xavier Sticker, where the two leaders discussed vital issues related to energy, water resources, and strengthening parliamentary democracy. The meeting, held at the French Embassy in Kampala, showcased the commitment of both nations to further enhance their bilateral relations.

The talks began with expressions of mutual respect and appreciation for the enduring friendship between Uganda and France. Deputy Speaker Tayebwa expressed his gratitude for the French government’s continuous support to Uganda in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and healthcare. Ambassador Sticker commended Uganda’s commitment to democratic principles and its role as a regional leader.

One of the central topics of discussion was energy, and how Uganda can harness its vast energy potential. “We appreciate the French expertise in renewable energy and believe that such cooperation can significantly contribute to our economic growth while protecting the environment,” Hon. Tayebwa stated.

The Deputy Speaker discussed the importance of sustainable water resource management, and Ambassador Sticker pledged French support for initiatives aimed at improving water infrastructure and management in Uganda.
