The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued official identification numbers to members of the organization’s Central Committee, formalizing the leadership hierarchy of the group’s top governing body.

In a statement, PLU said the numbers recognize each member’s historic role in founding the organization as well as their seniority within its structures. The designation “PO” — Patriotic Officer — will serve as a permanent identifier for senior figures, with additional numbers to be allocated later to members outside the Central Committee.

According to the list released, Gen. Kainerugaba holds PO 001, followed by journalist and commentator Andrew Mwenda as PO 002, and businessman Michael Nuwagira, widely known as “Toyota”, as PO 003. Other senior figures include lawyer Edwin Karugire (PO 004), legislator Daudi Kabanda (PO 005), and events promoter turned politician Balaam Barugahara (PO 006).

Members of Parliament Michael Mawanda and politician Lillian Aber were assigned PO 007 and PO 008 respectively, while the late sports administrator Cedric Babu was listed as PO 009. Social commentator Frank Gashumba received PO 010, followed by businessman Henry Basaliza (PO 011) and Fadil Twaha (PO 012).

PLU described the move as part of ongoing efforts to institutionalize the organization and document the contributions of its founding leadership.

The group indicated that more Patriotic Officer numbers will be issued in due course to members who are not part of the Central Committee.

The Patriotic League of Uganda, launched as a civic platform aligned with nationalist ideals, has grown in visibility in recent years, drawing support from political figures, business leaders, and youth groups across the country.
