The campaign of Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region is fast becoming a national movement, winning praise and solid endorsements in regions beyond his constituency.

Over the past week, Echodu’s energized engagements with delegates in Bunyoro and West Nile have sent a clear message: New Energy is not just a slogan—it’s a movement. This latest development has also sent shivers down the spines of his opponents.

Hoima

Echodu’s campaign momentum gained firm ground during a recent meeting with NRM delegates from Hoima District, Hoima City, and Kikuube District.

In his remarks, Echodu urged delegates to prioritize service delivery over empty rhetoric.

“I kindly ask you to shun divisive politics and lies, and instead embrace politics of service delivery,” he said. “We are tired of leaders who talk too much but deliver very little.”

Local leaders echoed this sentiment. Hoima City Mayor Brian Kaboyo rallied delegates to support unifying leaders committed to national transformation.

“We need leaders who walk the talk—not those who fuel division,” he said.

Kibaale Resident District Commissioner Stephen Byaruhanga Mfashingabo added his voice, calling on delegates to reinforce President Museveni’s legacy by electing leaders with a proven commitment to the NRM’s development agenda.

“Greater Kibaale has supported the NRM with over 98% since 1996,” he said. “Let us now give President Museveni and committed NRM leaders a 100% mandate.”

Bunyoro NRM Youth Coordinator Agaba Niyonzima praised existing government initiatives such as Emyooga and the Youth Livelihood Fund, attributing reduced youth unemployment and crime to these programs. He emphasized that the region needed leaders who could scale such successes.

Greater Nebbi: Charged with Passion

The campaign then moved into the Greater Nebbi area—covering Pakwach, Zombo, Nebbi District, and Nebbi Municipality—where Echodu encountered what he described as “electric energy.”

“I loved your energy!” he exclaimed. “Your passion for the NRM and your commitment to steady progress is exactly what Team New Energy stands for.”

The delegates responded with a firm pledge to continue pushing forward with unity and purpose.

Arua City

In Arua City, Echodu received an enthusiastic reception from NRM leaders and delegates across Arua, Terego, and Madi Okollo districts. The vibrant engagement highlighted a unified West Nile front ready to rally behind his candidacy.

“The New Energy is strong here,” Echodu noted. “I deeply appreciate your solidarity and unwavering support.”

The encounter served as both a political endorsement and a symbolic affirmation of his growing national appeal.

Moyo

Rounding off his West Nile tour, Echodu held a high-level strategic meeting with NRM delegates from Moyo, Obongi, and Adjumani Districts. These discussions moved beyond mobilization, diving into ideas on strengthening party structures from the grassroots to national level.

“We discussed how to reinforce our systems, enhance canvassing efforts, and build a more robust NRM across Uganda,” Echodu shared. “The support and ideas I received reaffirm that the New Energy momentum is unstoppable.”

Highly placed sources say Echodu’s campaign is rapidly evolving from a regional bid into a nationwide force which leaves his opponents with an uphill task. His message of service, unity, and transformation resonates across Ugqnda, echoing the aspirations of many within the ruling party.

Sources add that there is a growing sentiment of a yearning for new leadership for the post he is seeking to occupy, raising his political fortunes.
