CABINET RESHUFFLE! Army Chief Mbadi named state minister as Museveni makes changes

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni announced new cabinet changes on Thursday evening, appointing Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, the country’s army chief, as the State Minister for Industry.

Gen Mbadi’s transition from the military realm to the industrial sector marks a notable shift in his career trajectory, showcasing President Museveni’s confidence in his leadership abilities beyond the military domain. With his extensive experience and strategic acumen, Gen Mbadi’s appointment is expected to inject fresh perspectives into Uganda’s industrial policies and initiatives.

Additionally, the cabinet reshuffle saw the inclusion of Balaam Barugahare, a prominent music promoter who has recently gained prominence within the Patriotic League of Uganda. Barugahare’s appointment reflects President Museveni’s inclination towards involving individuals from diverse backgrounds in shaping the country’s governance landscape.

Furthermore, the announcement also introduced Phiona Nyamutoro, the Northern Youth MP, into the cabinet, marking her debut in ministerial responsibilities. Nyamutoro’s inclusion as state minister for energy, underscores President Museveni’s commitment to fostering youth participation and representation in key decision-making positions within the government.

Much of the cabinet has been maintained with exceptions of the defence department. Hon Sssempija Bamulangaki, the Minister of Defence has been named a Presidential Advisor.

The docket of foreign affairs has been maintained.
