Amb. Ssemuddu Hails Al Zuwadi as Qatar Charity Expands Uganda Programmes

His Excellency Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, Special Envoy of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda to the State of Qatar, praised the distinguished role played by His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Zuwadi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Uganda, in strengthening fraternal relations between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in humanitarian and development fields.

Ambassador Rashid affirmed that Ambassador Ahmed Al Zuwadi is a distinguished model of Qatari diplomacy, noting his high professional competence, refined humanitarian vision, and sincere dedication to serving his country and supporting humanitarian work. He further stated that the Ambassador’s efforts have had a significant impact on deepening bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uganda, and on strengthening partnerships with Qatari humanitarian institutions, earning him wide appreciation from the Ugandan leadership, government, and people.

This commendation came during a meeting between His Excellency Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, representing His Excellency Hon. Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, and His Excellency Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Charity, where he conveyed the greetings of the Minister and his appreciation for the leading humanitarian role played by Qatar Charity in Uganda and around the world.

During the meeting, Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari praised the positive role played by His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Zuwadi in supporting humanitarian work and enhancing cooperation between Qatar Charity and official and civil entities in Uganda, affirming that his efforts have contributed to creating a positive environment for expanding humanitarian and development partnerships.

Ambassador Ssemuddu also reviewed the outcomes of the official visit conducted by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs to the State of Qatar to deliver a condolence message from His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, on the passing of the Father Amir. The visit included fruitful meetings with senior Qatari officials, which underscored the shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in investment, development, and humanitarian fields.

Ambassador Ssemuddu emphasized that Uganda, which hosts the largest number of refugees in Africa and the fifth largest globally, represents a suitable environment for expanding Qatar Charity’s humanitarian programs, particularly in food security, education, health, water, orphan care, youth and women empowerment, and support for refugee-hosting communities.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Charity affirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding its humanitarian and development programs in Uganda, noting that the current volume of programs implemented in the country amounts to approximately QAR 25 million annually. He also expressed Qatar Charity’s readiness to consider increasing its humanitarian interventions in line with needs and development priorities.

Mr. Youssef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari welcomed the official invitation to visit Uganda with a technical delegation from Qatar Charity to assess humanitarian needs on the ground and explore avenues for expanding cooperation with the Ugandan government and national institutions, thereby contributing to sustainable development and alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable groups.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of strengthening partnerships with national charitable organizations in Uganda, in accordance with the regulations and procedures adopted by Qatar Charity, in a way that achieves shared humanitarian objectives and further deepens the fraternal relations between the Republic of Uganda and the State of Qatar.
