Amb. Adonia takes over chairmanship of African envoys at UN, vows to prioritize continent’s Common Positions

Ambassador Adonia Ayebare, the Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations, officially received the instruments of Chairmanship of the African Group of Ambassadors from Amb. Gladys Mokhawa of Botswana. The exchange marked the commencement of Ambassador Ayebare’s leadership for the month of March, during which he pledged to prioritize the promotion of Africa’s unified stances on global issues within the UN.

In a tweet, Ambassador Ayebare expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his fellow African diplomats and emphasized the significance of fostering a united front. He stated, “It is an honor to take on the responsibility of leading the African Group of Ambassadors at the United Nations. During my tenure, I am committed to advancing Africa’s common positions and ensuring our collective voice is heard on the global stage.”

Ambassador Gladys Mokhawa, the outgoing Chairperson, extended her best wishes to Ambassador Ayebare and conveyed confidence in his ability to effectively advocate for the continent’s interests. The ceremonial event showcased the camaraderie and collaboration among African nations within the UN framework.
