Ambassador Fátima Fernandes Juárez officially presented her credentials to Jeje Odongo, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, marking the commencement of her tenure as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Uganda.
The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, was marked by the exchange of diplomatic pleasantries and discussions aimed at fostering stronger ties between the two nations. Minister Jeje Odongo warmly welcomed Ambassador Fernandes, expressing Uganda’s commitment to deepening diplomatic relations and cooperation with Venezuela which is establishing an embassy in Uganda.
Ambassador Fernandes becomes the Latin American nation’s first envoy to Uganda.
During the meeting, both officials emphasized the significance of bolstering bilateral and multilateral relations, underscoring their shared identity as member countries of the Global South. Ambassador Fernandes and Minister Odongo acknowledged the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration in various sectors, including trade, education, and technology.
Both officials agreed to explore avenues for collaboration on international platforms, seeking common ground on issues of global importance. They also discussed the importance of unity among Global South countries in navigating the complexities of the contemporary international landscape.
