Gen Muhoozi Contributes Shs100m to Tooro King’s Coronation

FORT PORTAL, UGANDA — Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has contributed Shs100 million towards the coronation of the new King of Tooro.

Muhoozi said on Saturday that his Military Assistant, Col Muwumba, delivered the money to the Omusuuga of Tooro on his behalf.

“Today my Military Assistant, Colonel Muwumba, delivered 100 million shillings on my behalf to the Omusuuga of Tooro. This is our humble contribution to the coronation of the new king. God bless Tooro,” Muhoozi said.

The contribution comes as preparations continue for the coronation of the new Omukama of Tooro, following the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Gen Muhoozi’s contribution adds to support for the forthcoming royal ceremony, which is expected to draw members of the Tooro Kingdom royal family, cultural leaders, government officials and other dignitaries.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be Chief Guest.

The Tooro Kingdom has been navigating a succession process following the death and burial of the late Omukama Oyo, with Edward Rukiidi IV Kijanangoma named as the new king.

The coronation will mark a significant moment for the kingdom as it formally celebrates the installation of its new monarch.
